About Us

We started this company because small businesses in NEPA deserve better.

Most AI consultants sell strategy decks. We write code. That's the difference.

The Person Behind It

Paul Ascenzi. Engineer first.

Paul is a senior full stack software engineer with over 10 years of experience. BS in Computer Engineering from Penn State. MS in Computer Science from Southern New Hampshire University.

He spent nearly a decade at Fidelity Investments. Started as an Associate, moved to Senior, then Tech Lead. Led the re-architecture of single-page applications using a micro frontend approach. Migrated 7 Java applications to Node.js on AWS Lambda.

The kind of work that most consultants talk about but never actually do.

In October 2024, he started Light in the Dark Analytics. Based in Shavertown, PA... right in the heart of Northeast Pennsylvania.

The goal was simple. Take everything he learned building software at scale and bring it to the small businesses in his backyard. The ones who need it most and get it least.

How We Work

Trust over results. Truth over polish.

We don't sell things we can't build. We don't promise outcomes we can't deliver. If there's nothing we can help with, we'll say so.

Paul is faith-driven. That shows up in how we do business. Don't lie. Don't steal. Don't overcharge. Do the best job possible. It's not complicated.

When almost everything online is AI-generated, you won't know how much the person on the other side of the screen really knows. Trust will be the hardest thing to earn in business going forward. We think it's also the most important.

That's why Paul is the person you talk to. And the person who builds it. No handoffs. No layers. No mystery.

"There is a lot of hidden good in the world, we are just too distracted to notice it."

The Mission

Be the AI guy of NEPA.

We use AI coding tools to deliver at the speed and quality of a full dev team. That means you get enterprise-grade work without the enterprise price tag.

Most business owners in NEPA have heard about AI. Most think it's too expensive, too complicated, or not relevant to what they do.

Almost all of them are wrong about that.

We're here to show them. One business at a time. In person. In their town. Speaking their language.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind Light in the Dark Analytics?+

Paul Ascenzi, a senior full stack software engineer with over 10 years of experience. Nearly a decade at Fidelity Investments building software at scale, a BS in Computer Engineering from Penn State, and an MS in Computer Science from SNHU. He started Light in the Dark Analytics in October 2024 to bring real AI solutions to small businesses in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Why should I trust a local AI consultant over a big firm?+

Big firms send a salesperson first and an engineer second. We skip that step. Paul is the person you talk to and the person who builds it. No handoffs, no layers. You get a senior engineer who actually writes the code, not a project manager reading from a script.

What makes Light in the Dark Analytics different?+

We write the code ourselves. Paul uses AI coding tools to deliver at the speed and quality of a full dev team. That means enterprise-grade work without the enterprise price tag. No subcontractors. No offshore teams. Just one experienced engineer who knows what he's doing.

Do you only work with businesses in NEPA?+

Most of our clients are in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and across Northeast Pennsylvania. But we work remotely too. If you're a small business owner who needs AI help, location doesn't have to be a barrier.

Want to talk to the person who actually builds it?

30 minutes. No pitch. No pressure. Just Paul, asking questions about your business and telling you honestly what's possible.
